In “ The Space Between Us ,” Butterfield portrays
the role of a young boy named Gardner Elliot. He
was born on Mars in line with the first mission
attempt to colonize the former inhospitable alien
planet.
Elliot has spent 16 years in isolation and only 14
people are set to be his personal acquaintance. But
after he met online the character of Robertson
named Tulsa, Elliot found himself on a journey of
soul searching. He wants to find out where in the
universe he belongs to.
In addition, Elliot found out that his organs will
not be able to withstand the Earth’s atmosphere.
Besides, he has spent his years on Mars for 16
years . But that will never stop him to look for love,
his biological father and self-acceptance.
