WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: Ben Affleck's 'The Accountant' Dominates As 'Birth Of A Nation' Tumbles


The new Ben Affleck movie, The Accountant, ruled
the US box office this weekend, taking in $24.7 million for its debut weekend to become the No. 1 film this weekend.
The Warner Bros. movie pulled in $9.1 million on Friday (including $1.35 million from earlier previews), another $9.5 million on Saturday, and $6.1 million Sunday to reach $24.7 million for the weekend.

Rounding out the top five films for the weekend were Kevin Hart: What Now? ($11.984 million), The Girl on the Train ($11.975 million), Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children ($8.9 million), and Deepwater Horizon ($6.35 million).
