Now that Virtual Reality is here, "Magic Leap" reminds us that augmented reality is on deck

Google made a big splash when it threw its support behind Magic Leap with a$542 million investment last year. Immediately people began wondering what exactly Mountain View was so excited about that it was willing to drop half a billion dollars as pure investment -- not even an acquisition. Unfortunately, the startup continues to guard its secrets closely. All we know is that Magic Leap has some sort of wearable that blends augmented reality and virtual reality

Now that consumer virtual reality is here, with the arrival of the
leading HTC Vive and runner-up Oculus Rift , Magic Leap is here
to remind us that there's yet another next big thing waiting in the
wings. Many believe that augmented reality will eventually
replace the smartphone – using eye-worn gear to (appear to)
place apps and games inside the real world around us, rather
than on the screen of a handheld device or inside an isolated
virtual world. Mysterious startup Magic Leap launched a new
video today to remind us that it's cooking up that very future.
While Microsoft has been eager to associate its name with AR
right out of the gates, showing off its Hololens AR kit at various
convention demos, Magic Leap has been doing something
similar in a more secretive way, creating buzz and raising
beaucoup bucks without giving the public or press any glimpses
or major details of the device itself.
We do occasionally get to see first-person Magic Leap videos
shot using real footage, though, and we got another one of
those today.

Watch a clip from tonight’s episode of The Flash – ‘Versus Zoom’

Equipped with the tachyon device, Barry (Grant Gustin) believes he is fast enough to stop Zoom (guest star Teddy Sears) and wants to open the breaches to catch him. Harry (Tom Cavanagh) strongly advises against that plan but after Barry convinces him, Harry reveals that Cisco (Carlos Valdes) has the power to re-open the breach. Meanwhile, Hunter Zoloman’s (Teddy Sears) painful story on Earth-2 is revealed.

In this latest sneak preview, Team Flash learns the real-name of the Earth-2 speedster they knew as the heroic Jay Garrick and recently discovered he's the villainous Zoom. He's actually Hunter Zolomon, a convicted serial killer who acquired his powers while in the process of being executed on an electric chair.

'Billions' Season 2 Will Highlight Why Damian Lewis’s Bobby Axelrod is TV's Greatest Anti-Hero

Billions operates in a high-stakes world already, but if there’s
one thing it has earned, then it’s our attention. From the outset,
Billions exceeded our expectations and did so right up to the
final moments of a wild first season . With that, we can already
begin to look ahead to Billions season 2.
The Showtime drama was renewed after only two episodes , and
for good reason. Billions was the highest-rated debut for a
Showtime original series, with the network claiming that 6.5
million people sampled the premiere across multiple platforms.
The series’ ratings remained steady at more than a 1 million
viewers per episode, and critical reception was increasingly
more positive as the season went on (it’s sitting at 72 percent
fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, 69 on Metacritic).

With his ties to Wendy eliminated — and Giamatti, now
single, busy rubbing the salt in Axe’s wounds — Season 2
will inevitably find Axe remaking himself, both professionally
and personally. He has nowhere else to go, and he hasn’t
shaken off his bad PR for the 9/11 stunt, or his other messy
conflicts. As for the conflict with the U.S. Attorney’s office,
the “playing dirty” we’ve only seen glimpses of from Axe
this season (mostly, covert surveillance operations) will no
doubt ramp up. They’ll have to, since he now knows Chuck
is willing to play the same game. Chuck’s baiting will push
Axe to stay even more on the offensive, expanding his
operations beyond just tailing Chuck to S&M clubs.
Billions Season 1 pulled us into caring about these
characters, and understanding their self-contradictions and
warped senses of morality, but like the Empire Strikes Back to
its New Hope , Season 2 will show us how far they’re willing
to go to prevail.

Mr. Robot' Goes Bold in New Season 2 Trailer

Elliot ’ s journey took some very interesting twists
throughout Season 1
Elliot is still warring against the world , and
attempting to play a part in a revolution against the rich,
powerful , and corrupt . As we saw towards the end of
Season 1, that led to some major consequences not only
for Elliot , but for his friend Angela ( Portia Doubleday ) as
well as Mr . Robot and their entire coterie of hackers
( including Carly Chaikin, Ron Cephas Jones , and Sunita
Mani ). Still , there ’ s clearly more to come ( as well as the
question where is Martin Wallstrom ’ s Tyrell Wellick ?!)

We don’ t know very much about the upcoming season ,
although creator and showrunner Sam Esmail (who will be
directing all of Season 2’ s episodes) recently dropped a
few hints about the show continuing to play mind games ,
and also tackling themes of privacy and data encryption .
Whatever is coming , though , I trust it will be great .
Mr . Robot will premiere later this year on USA Network.

James Cameron says there will be four Avatar sequels

The director has told audiences in San Diego that a new movie has been added to the planned – and much-delayed – follow-ups to his 2009 3D smash.
In 2009, Avatar, James Cameron’s 3D spectacular featuring a disabled soldier interacting with a planet of blue-skinned aliens, rapidly became the highest-grossing film of all time, making $2.8bn.

A sequel to the film was swiftly announced, and then an entire further trilogy, but work was delayed and none of the planned movies appeared to be progressing, despite a mooted release date for Avatar 2 of December 2014.

But speaking to the audience at CinemaCon in San Diego on Thursday, Cameron revealed not only that the second film will be out at the end of 2018, but that another will be released each year until 2022, meaning one more movie than previously anticipated is in the offing.
He went ahead to say “We have decided to embark on a truly massive cinematic process,” adding that each of the new films will function both as a standalone and as part of a larger saga.

“I’ve been working the last couple of years with a team of four top screenwriters,” he said, “to design the world of Avatar going forward: the characters, the creatures, the environment, the new cultures.”

“So far, the art I’m seeing is in pure imagination, really far beyond the first film,” he added. “It’s going to be a true epic saga.”
