Samsung announces new curved gaming monitors

As an electronic giant that makes a little bit of everything (TVs, tablets, smartwatches, fridges, baby monitors, the list goes on) Samsung is no stranger to computer monitors, but gaming monitors are not something the company has focused on much, until now.

Samsung is committed to curved gaming monitors with fast response times and has plans on making UHD models as soon as next year. If you can't wait that long,
the CF791 and CFG70 are expected to hit stores in Q4.

The sleek, ultra wide 34-inch CF791 will go for $999 (converts to AU$1,330 and £760), and the CFG70 monitors, which come in 24-and 27-inch variants, are priced at $399 (roughly AU$530, £300) and $499 (around AU$660, £380), respectively. The new monitors notably have curved edges, a
design trend Samsung is fully embracing.

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: 'Don't Breathe' Suffocates 'Suicide Squad' To Steal No.1 Spot

“Don’t Breathe,” a twisty story of a group of
teenage delinquents who pick the wrong
house to burglarize, dominated the late
summer box office, debuting to a potent
$26.1 million and topping charts. It joins a
long list of recent horror films such as “The
Purge: Election Year,” “The Conjuring 2,”
“Lights Out,” and “The Shallows” that have
all found success with audiences. It’s a
genre that’s particularly attractive to
studios, because these films don’t require
much in the way of special effects or star
power, making them cheaper to produce
than comic book adventures and science-
fiction fantasies.
Meanwhile, Kubo and the Two Strings moved up to third place this week, with Travis Knight's new stop-motion fantasy earning $7.9 million during its second weekend, and Sausage Party slipped from second place to fourth, earning $7.7 million.

1. Don't Breathe $26.1 million
2. Suicide Squad $12.1 million
3. Kubo and the Two Strings $7.9 million
4. Sausage Party $7.7 million
5. Mechanic: Resurrection $7.5 million
6. Pete's Dragon $7.3 million
7. War Dogs $7.3 million
8. Bad Moms $5.8 million
9. Jason Bourne $5.2 million
10. Ben-Hur $4.5 million

‘Narcos’ season 2 arrives September 2 as Netflix teases new trailer

Narcos an original series chronicling the lives of DEA agents, drug lord Pablo Escobar, and the terror that rises in his wake. The show received ample praise in its first season, and soon after launching it Netflix promised there'd be a second season. Now that second season is nearly
upon us, and Netflix has released a new trailer teasing it.

Things get serious in the second season (not that they weren’t in the first) — Pablo has escaped prison and returned home, and the battle is on between his people and those who want him eradicated. People are killed, the Medellin cartel becomes a household name, and drugs flow qamidst it all despite the DEA's efforts.

Time Strikes Back In The Latest Trailer For ‘The Flash’

We all knew that Barry’s decision at the end of The Flash‘s second season was going to have unpleasant consequences. Really, there’s no show otherwise. But it wasn’t clear just what those consequences would actually be. Now it looks like Barry might have unleashed far more than just Cisco being a rich jerk.

The above trailer for season three is mostly concerned with Barry recruiting Cisco, as he lays out just how his time-traveling has altered the universe. It appears, as well,
that he gets this alternate Cisco on his side, mostly by showing off his speed. The main question, though, is just what that brief shot of what appears to be some sort of cult is all about. The Flash has yet to fight any weird
secret societies, well, unless you count the League of Assassins, but that’s really more Arrow ‘s problem.

Play PlayStation games on your PC with PS Now

Sony will be bringing its game streaming service PlayStation Now to the PC from today, along with a USB adaptor allowing gamers to use standard PS4 controller on their computers. The DualShock 4 USB wireless adaptor appears to be mainly targeted as a way to more authentically play PS4 games streamed from console to PC using the Remote Access feature. However, it will also render the standard controller the best way to play Sony's library of streaming PlayStation 3 titles.
The PlayStation Now service launched in the UK last summer, serving as an alternative to PS3 backwards compatibility on PS4.
Although the newer console can't read the
discs of its predecessor, the subscription-
based PS Now model offers a library of 400+
PS3 titles to stream for £12.99/month .
The announcement of the adaptor was made in a Sony EU blog post on Monday, with confirmation that the PlayStation Now PC app would be available today. However, more information on how PS Now itself will work on PC has been given via the American blog .
The adaptor will be availble from early
September. You'll need to be running Windows 7 (SP1), 8.1 or 10; have either a 3.5GHz Intel Core i3 or 3.8GHz AMD A10 as a minimum processor spec; 2GB RAM; and a mercifully tiny 300MB space to install the client. You'll also need at least 5Mbps broadband, although Sony recommends a wired connection for a stable experience. Current PS Now subscribers will be able to access their accounts on PC too, allowing them to continue progress on games across platforms.
"This will bring a wide selection of
PlayStation exclusive titles to Windows PC for the very first time, including entries in the Uncharted, God of War, and Ratchet & Clank franchises, as well as beloved PS3 games like The Last of Us and Journey ," wrote Sony's Eric Lempel, senior vice president of PlayStation Network.
Lempel also teased "exciting games that will
be added to the library" soon.
Sadly - and perhaps confusingly - for Apple
users, while the USB adaptor can be used to
control PS4 games streamed over a local
network via Remote Access, there doesn't
seem to be any sign of PlayStation Now
coming to Mac.

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: Ben-Hur Flops As Suicide Squad Eliminates Competition To Retain No.1 Spot For The Third Week

Warner Bros.' comedy- drama, starring Jonah Hill and Miles Teller, earned $14.3 million and placed third at the box office, right behind suicide squad and Sausage Party. Kubo and The Two Strings the new stop-motion fantasy film from director Travis Knight, also opened this weekend, placing
fourth with $12.6 million.

'The Arrival ' Full Trailer Is Here, Looks Like The Alien Movie Of The Year

Remember when Independence Day: Resurgence seemed like it was going to be the big alien invasion movie of the year? Yeah, not so much. But take a look at the first full trailer for Arrival , a new sci-fi
thriller starring Amy Adams, about a linguist called to help the U.S. Army communicate with extraterrestrials
who descend all over Earth in pebble-shaped ships.

The trailer exhibits just the right amount of creepiness, tension, wonder, and anticipation. And I've got very high hopes as the film is directed by one Dennis Villeneuve, who also directed the critically acclaimed drug war thriller Sicario and the more divisive but undoubtedly interesting films Prisoners and Enemy , among others. He's also the man directing the upcoming sequel to Blade Runner starring Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling.

Arrival lands in theaters in North America on November 11, 2016.

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: 'Suicide Squad' Tops Box Office for Second Weekend

As expected, “ Suicide Squad ” (Warner) led the box office pack for a second weekend, taking in an estimated $43.8 million, for a new domestic total of $222.9 million.
“ Sausage Party ” (Sony) collected about $33.6 million, beating the prerelease expectations of some box office analysts and proving once again that audiences respond to original concepts. “Sausage Party,” with character voices provided by Seth Rogen and Kristen Wiig, was also relatively cheap: Sony and Annapurna Pictures split the $19 million in production expenses.
“ Pete’s Dragon ” (Disney) was third. Ticket sales totaled $21.5 million, a bit less than
anticipated. This slow-paced remake charmed most critics , but its crowd appeal was limited.
Disney said on Sunday that 33 percent of the opening-weekend audience was under the age of 12. “Pete’s Dragon” cost about $65 million to make.

1. Suicide Squad $43.8 million

Power S3 EP5 "Help Me" Rating

I'm a Power fanatic and have been since season one, but I must admit this season hasn't been quite as fulfilling for me as the other two(probably why I haven't been talking about it). I think that may have changed with this one episode. This episode is probably "THE" best episode EVER.
Everything about this hour worked and for good reason. It felt like the storylines were finally merging together and things were progressing towards an end game. And even the two characters I like the least managed to not get on my nerves.

We wouldn't wanna spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet and if you've missed any episode then now will be the best time to catch up.

Power S3 EP5 Rating 9.5/10

‘Don’t Breathe’s Red Band Trailer Will Scare You Shitless

The first round of press surrounding upcoming horror film Don’t Breathe has almost been too good to believe. Reviews for the movie have made claims like its “Hitchcock on crack” or that it’s “the best American horror film in 20 years.” But hype be damned, all the proof you need is in the film’s just-released red band trailer.

A trio of robbers come across a most devious plot — the opportunity to raid the home of a rich, blind man. The group thus assumes that the robbery would be their easiest score to date, but little do they know that they’d be walking into a game of survival, as they discover their victim is actually an army veteran. Their plan turns into a blind cat-and-mouse game as they attempt to flee the home they broke into in this modernized horror film.

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: 'Jason Bourne' dominates the weekend box office

The return of the Bourne franchise brought in $60 million over the weekend, putting the Matt Damon film squarely on top of box office receipts.
Jason Bourne pushed Star Trek Beyond from the number one spot it held last weekend. StarTrek Beyond debut brought in just under $60 million, and the sci-fi film made an additional $24 million over its sophomore weekend.
The Secret Life of Pets continues to perform strongly, with weekend ticket stubs pushing Universal's animated movie to just under $300 million total domestic gross since its July 8 release. Not bad for a movie with a budget of $75 million. Ice Age: Collision Course and Finding Dory also did well, slipping down the chart but maintaining spots in the top 10. Lifetime domestic gross for Finding Dory is approaching half a billion dollars, at $470 million.

1. Jason Bourne, $60 million

The Samsung Galaxy Note7 Launches With an Iris Scanner

The Samsung Galaxy Note7 is now official. The latest iteration of the phone that started the phablet craze back in 2011 replaces the Galaxy Note5 on top of Samsung's Android smartphone lineup. The company deliberately skipped a model number in order to bring the device's naming in line with the Samsung Galaxy S7 product family.
The phablet will be available for pre-order
beginning today, August 3. Pre-order
customers will get to choose between a free
Samsung Gear Fit2 fitness tracker, or a free
256GB memory card. Retail availability is
scheduled for August 19.
Just like in its Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge
siblings, the most significant new feature of the Galaxy Note7 is its IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Samsung has even ensured that the device's signature S Pen stylus is capable of scribbling notes underwater in case circumstances require it—you never know!

The new S Pen stylus is not only capable of
working underwater, but is also twice as
sensitive as its predecessor. It also comes with a rich set of new software tricks, including the ability to easily create GIF animations from anything a user does on the Note7.
A built-in iris scanner is another all-new
feature that the Galaxy Note7 brings to
Samsung's smartphone lineup. It allows users to access their phone by simply looking at it, and adds to the already-impressive security repertoire of the handset.
Of course, the Galaxy Note lineup is all about the big screen, and the latest iteration doesn't disappoint. The device packs a stunning 5.7- inch curved QHD display, which supports HDR content playback. The display is covered by the just-announced Corning Gorilla Glass 5, so it is quite tough too.
Samsung Galaxy Note7 features the same
speedy processor and excellent camera as the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. However, the newcomer boasts twice the internal memory, which can also be expanded via a microSD card slot.
Alongside the Galaxy Note7, Samsung also
announced a new Gear VR virtual reality
headset. Designed to work with all top-shelf
Samsung smartphones going back to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, the Oculus-powered accessory features sleeker design and improved ergonomics over the model it is about to replace. In addition to the new Gear VR, Samsung will launch a bevy of accessories for the Galaxy Note7. Those include waterproof battery cases and battery packs, among others.
